Resizing changes an image’s pixel dimensions — its width and height. ImgWand lets you set exact pixels or scale by percentage, with the aspect ratio locked by default so nothing looks stretched. It all happens in your browser, so large photos resize instantly without an upload wait.

Resizing is the single most effective way to cut an image’s file size, because file size grows with the number of pixels. A 4000-pixel photo displayed at 800 pixels is carrying roughly 25× more data than it needs.

How to use Resize Image

  1. 1

    Open Resize Image

Load this page — everything runs in your browser, so there's nothing to install.

  2. 2

    Add your files

Drag and drop JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF onto the workspace, or click to browse. Add several at once for batch processing.

  3. 3

    Adjust the settings

Fine-tune the output with the options panel and watch the result update live.

  4. 4

    Download your result

Save each file or grab everything as a single zip. Your originals are never uploaded.

Why resize an image?

  • Fit a layout: match the exact dimensions a website, template or social platform expects.
  • Shrink file size: fewer pixels means a dramatically smaller file — great before uploading.
  • Meet requirements: many forms and avatars require a specific size in pixels.
  • Speed up pages: serving images at their display size avoids wasted bandwidth.

Keep the aspect ratio

When “lock aspect ratio” is on, setting one dimension automatically calculates the other so your image keeps its proportions and never looks squashed. Turn it off only when you deliberately want to stretch to exact dimensions. Note that enlarging an image beyond its original size can’t add real detail — for that, try the AI Upscale tool.

Common sizes

  • Instagram post: 1080 × 1080 px · Story: 1080 × 1920 px
  • Facebook cover: 820 × 312 px
  • YouTube thumbnail: 1280 × 720 px
  • Typical website hero: 1600–2000 px wide

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Resize Image runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your images never leave your device, which makes it private and fast.

Is Resize Image free?

Yes, Resize Image is completely free with no sign-up, no watermark, and no daily limits.

Which formats can I use?

Resize Image accepts JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF. You can drop multiple files at once for batch processing.

Will resizing reduce quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it crisp. Making it much larger can look soft, because resizing can’t invent detail that wasn’t captured — use AI Upscale for enlargements.

Can I resize by percentage?

Yes. Set a width or height, or scale proportionally — with the aspect ratio locked, the other dimension is calculated for you.

How do I resize an image without losing quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Resize from the highest-resolution original, keep the aspect ratio locked, and export at quality 80+. To make an image bigger without blur, use AI Upscale.

Can I resize images on my phone?

Yes. ImgWand runs in any mobile browser on iPhone or Android — there is no app to install, and your photos never leave your device.
