Privacy Policy

The short version: your files never leave your device, because every tool runs locally in your browser. This page explains exactly what that means, and the limited data we and our partners do handle.

Your files stay on your device

When you use any ImgWand tool, the image, GIF or video you choose is processed entirely on your own device using your browser and WebAssembly. Your files are never uploaded to our servers — we have no way to see, store, recover or share them. When you close or refresh the tab, everything you loaded is discarded from memory.

Analytics

We collect privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics — such as page views and which tools are used — to understand what to improve and build next. This data is not used to identify you personally, and we never sell it. It tells us “the compress tool was used 400 times today”, not who used it.

Advertising and cookies

ImgWand is free, and we keep it that way partly through advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads on some pages. To do this, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to ImgWand and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.

Importantly, advertising never touches the images you process — ads are part of the page, while your files are handled separately and locally, and are never shared with advertisers.

AI tools and processing engines

Tools labelled “AI Magic” (such as Remove Background and Upscale) download a small machine-learning model to your browser on first use, then run it locally on your device. These model files are fetched from Hugging Face's content delivery network. Like any web download, that request exposes standard metadata (such as your IP address and browser type) to Hugging Face's servers — but it is a one-way download of the model file only. Your images are never sent to Hugging Face, to us, or to anyone else; all processing and inference happens on your device.

The video engine used by tools like Video to GIF is served directly from imgwand.com itself, so using it involves no third-party servers at all. It also downloads once on first use and is cached by your browser afterwards.

Offline use and the service worker

ImgWand registers a service worker so that pages you've visited keep working offline and the site can be installed as an app. The service worker caches site assets (pages, scripts and the processing engines) on your own device. It is a standard browser feature for offline use, not a tracking cookie — it doesn't identify you or send data anywhere, and you can clear it at any time through your browser's site-data settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as ImgWand evolves or as our advertising and analytics partners change. We'll update the date at the top whenever we do.
